Families are invited to celebrate books, literacy, and community at the 4th Annual Book Block Party on Saturday, September 26, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Land Between the Tracks in Vail. This free family-friendly event brings together local organizations, authors, businesses, and community partners to inspire a lifelong love of reading.

The Book Block Party has grown into a community-wide celebration of literacy, featuring more than 20 local nonprofits, businesses, authors, and community organizations offering hands-on activities, educational experiences, and resources for families. Guests can also enjoy food trucks, local clubs, a car show, giveaways, and a variety of interactive experiences for all ages.

This year’s theme, “Go Wild for Reading,” invites children and families to explore literacy through adventure, imagination, and discovery. New participating partners, including Reid Park Zoo, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Act One, and the National Park Service, will join returning community exhibitors to create an immersive experience where children can learn, explore, and connect with organizations that support learning throughout the year.

Children attending the event can choose free books, enjoy live storytime with local authors and first responders, meet Santa in September, participate in literacy-focused activities, and receive a free tote bag while supplies last. Families can also participate in a community book swap, explore local resources, and discover new ways to support learning beyond the event.

Last year, the Book Block Party served more than 300 children, with each child receiving a free tote bag and access to books to take home. Many children left with more books than their bags could carry – a reflection of the community’s generosity and shared commitment to helping children build a love of reading.
