Have you heard of the Renaissance Festival? Just imagine it as if you went to the past. There’s jousting, giant turkey legs, and performances in outdoor theaters. Keep reading to learn more about the Renaissance Festival.
When you first walk in, you can hear sizzling and smell roasting turkey legs. I got one for myself and my brother got one, too. The turkey legs were so big, they could feed two people! The skin was crispy and the inside was soft and juicy. It was the best turkey leg I ever had and I bet the turkeys were massive!
After we ate, we went to the jousting arena. The horses were about 6 to 7 feet in length and 5 to 6 feet tall. They’re really big with giant hooves. The knights had very shiny armor and big javelins. Javelins are like long wooden spears but instead of throwing them, knights hold them and race towards each other. The goal is to hit the target on the other knight’s body. Outside of the arena there was a little jousting experience for kids. You had to try and get a ring and I got it!
There was a petting zoo with baby goats, rabbits and geese. You could pet the rabbits and goats, but not the geese. The rabbits were as soft as a cloud. You could buy some food and feed the goats. They have slobbery tongues, but it feels nice in my opinion. There was one mama and three baby geese that were cute and fluffy. My favorite animals were the goats.
One of the interesting things about the Renaissance Festival is that people dress up in costumes. There were people dressed up as elves, wizards, dwarves, witches
and more. Their costumes were creative and fun. I dressed up as an elf wizard like my Dungeons and Dragons character. I even had a pouch full of dice. If you didn’t have a costume, you could buy one at the shops if you wanted. There were so many stores, for example there was a blacksmith selling swords, knives, and hammers, a store selling toy dragons, different handmade items, and, of course, costumes.
In conclusion, that was the most fun I have had in a while. The Renaissance Festival can be fun for kids, adults and families. If you’re going to go next year, you should probably go on an empty stomach because the turkey legs are so big. If you want to start planning for next year, you should probably get a costume and start getting into character. I hope to see you there next year!
