Festival Celebrates American History
Off the Pilgrims sailed, braving the seas on their ship, the Mayflower! The dark walls of water and forget-me-not blue waves mixed into a tinge of anticipation— one that we would never forget. Whether it’s a kindergartener or a high schooler, students are always amazed by historical pyrotechnics, handmade colonial artifacts, and even a reenactment of the Pilgrims’ journey. Let’s delve into the past!
At the American Heritage Festival, hundreds of teachers, parents, and kids milled around, each forming their own impression of colonial life at the interactive booths. At the regimental cookery, we absorbed information and saw a real cooking-fire setup where they were making coffee. Crushing coffee beans, grinding flour, cracking nuts, and churning butter were newfound experiences.
After watching a performance at the Pilgrim Theater, we got to touch gunpowder, load a cannon, and pose with rifles. Nevertheless, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Revolutionary War battle reenactment. Rows of soldiers marched through the pouring rain while gun smoke created a dense fog. At the end of the simulation, we cheered for the American soldiers.
Do you want to visit this breathtaking celebration? It takes place annually at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek, where it has been held since 2019. History enthusiasts have an amazing and unique experience when they visit this diverse educational living-history event— the largest in the Western United States! School groups are invited to witness highly creative educational presentations and get inspired. I highly recommend taking part in helping bring our mind-blowing American heritage alive every year!
The Phoenix Liberty Festival will take place at Schnepf Farms Feb. 12-13, 2026.
