In February, Dan Spindle, an anchor for Good Morning Tucson on KGUN9, came to my school to read and talk to students about his career. He read a book about whether a shark or an orca would win in a battle against each other one on one. Then, he answered questions from students. Then I got to interview him.

Spindle is an award-winning journalist, nabbing awards such as Emmys, and he has been noticed by the Associated Press because of his work. He told me he is excited to be back in Arizona after moving here in fifth grade and absolutely loving it here. He graduated from Willcox High School, and attended the University of Arizona for about a year. Before landing his first job in television news in Medford, Oregon, he graduated from the school of Film and Theater at Scottsdale Community College. Interesting, right?

Spindle had numerous jobs before being a co-anchor for KGUN9. In the past, he had jobs such as being a custodian, a fast food employee, a bank teller, and even working on an onion farm. When he was younger, he didn’t actually want to be a reporter. Instead, he said he wanted to be a movie star and/or a television show producer. Spindle told me that being a co-anchor on television is almost like being a movie star!

Spindle is an amazing person who was very kind and funny.
