Imagine a building as tall as a skyscraper, but it floats! There it was—a humongous white cruise ship resting on the water. My family and I were about to set sail on the Navigator of the Seas!
With 14 decks (from theaters on Decks 4 and 5 to a waterpark on Decks 11 through 13, library, gym, casino, restaurants) I knew this would be an unforgettable adventure. Walking up the gangway, the bright sunlight almost blinded our eyes. No one could have prepared us for the fun that was coming.
At the Windjammer Marketplace, heaps of food were arranged in a circular ballroom big enough to seat 1000 people! We all dug in, relishing every delectable morsel and crumb.
As we left the Los Angeles shore, I stood with my family as the breeze blew through my hair. Riding up the transparent elevator, I loved seeing the ship through the glass walls. The hallways of the ship were adorned with exquisite pieces of art and culture. Our room was perfect, with a bunk bed and a balcony for fresh air. The waterpark was the best part. While lounging in the jacuzzi, we ate fresh ice cream and watched funny fails on a giant movie screen; soon after I enjoyed dancing amongst the lively crowd.
Then, we tackled the two largest water slides at sea: The Blaster and The Riptide. The hairpin curves and roller coaster dips nearly took my breath away! I even tried the Flowrider, where the rushing water tried to pull my surfboard back.
At night, we witnessed a show called “Showgirl” with bedazzled props and incredible dancing. The superb coordination of the performers left us enthralled! We watched hilarious stand-up comedy and even went to a“silent disco” (where you dance to music on headphones).
On shore days we visited Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico, where churro and piña colada tastings took over my taste buds. Watching the live blowhole in Ensenada was an interesting sight too.
Day 3 was spent at sea with rock climbing, laser tag, a treasure hunt and swimming. That night, we watched a professional ice skating show where the precision of the skaters jolted the audience awake.
By the time we said goodbye, my family and I felt rejuvenated. This four-day vacation strengthened
our relationships and increased positivity among us all. I can’t wait to relive these memories, because
this is an experience every family should share!
