My Family Took a Summer Trip to China

In early July my family and I took a trip to China. We went to three cities: Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai. We went to many tourist attractions that I will mention. First, I will talk about Beijing, China’s capital.

Beijing is a beautiful city with many places to visit. Here are some facts about Beijing. China’s capital, Beijing, has 29 million people. It also is famous for the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall of China was built over many dynasties and was used to defend China from nomads. It is 13,000 miles long. The sticky substance found in rice holds its bricks together.

We also visited the Forbidden City, which was the emperor’s home. It has 9,000 rooms, all for the emperor and his family. It was built in 1406 and was completed in 1420. The Summer Palace was also a resting place for emperors. It is a beautiful place with lakes and bridges. It has a fort that is high above the ground. The Tianyuan Mountains are beautiful mountains with a glass bridge high up that you have to walk on to get to the other mountain. It has two bridges; one is similar to the Golden Gate Bridge in California but entirely made of glass. The other bridge is another glass bridge connected to the mountain.

We took a bullet train for six hours from Beijing to Xi’an. Xi’an has 13 million people. It is famous
for the Terracotta Warriors which were built to protect emperor Qin Si Huan. It has over 25,000
warriors. It also has chariots and horses. Emperor Qin Si Huan’s tomb is hidden and can not be
uncovered because it would destroy the whole structure. Xi’an’s Muslim Quarters has the Grand
Mosque, which is over 1,300 years old. It has many halal food stands and restaurants. Xi’an used to be
China’s capital. The capital moved from Xi’an to Beijing because Beijing had all the farmland and was bigger.

Shanghai is China’s business city. It has over 30 million people! Shanghai has a Disneyland just like America.
The Shanghai tower is the third tallest building in the world. At night it lights up and shows an image. The Oriental Pearl Tower is a beautiful tower that is 1,535 foot tall. It is not recognized for its height, but rather for for its unique shape and its multicolor lights at night. People’s Square is a shopping place filled with people. It’s similar to Times Square in New York City. Shanghai has an underwater tunnel that you use to get to the Bund, an area with many old buildings and a tall clock tower. Shanghai is the fifth most populated state in the world.
