I just knew that “Mufasa” was going to be one of my favorite movies as soon as I saw the trailer! It had some very interesting parts to it that made me change my view of different characters.
Scar felt betrayal in many ways. One was when his mom clearly favored Mufasa over him. Also, like when Scar was betrayed by Mufasa with his love life. I can’t believe that even after Scar told Mufasa that he likes Sarabi, Mufasa still took her away from him. Scar even saved Mufasa afterwards, how much heartbreak can he go through? In return, Mufasa chose for Taka’s name not to be said, which is how Scar got his name.
There can’t be an amazing movie without amazing songs. When my sister and I first went to the theaters to see it, we thought the songs were pretty cringey. Later on, they were all over YouTube and sounded very catchy. “I Always Wanted a Brother” is widely praised for how memorable and easy to sing it is. And come on, “Bye Bye” has an amazing beat and Mads Mikkelsen nailed that deep voice.
Overall, “Mufasa” surprised me in the best way. It gave me a whole new perspective on characters I thought I already understood. It also is a very memorable movie. Even with a few cringey moments, it’s a film that pulls you in and stays with you. I walked out of the theater feeling like I knew the Lion King world on a deeper level, which makes it an amazing movie.
