Help us Celebrate Quincie Douglas Library’s 20th Anniversary + a Health Fair in Quincie Douglas’ Honor on Friday, September 26th from 9:30-11:30am!
Activities include:
- A talk with Mrs. Doreen Davis, daughter of Quincie Douglas, founder of L.I.F.T.S. (present day Vantran) and our library’s namesake.
- “500 Years of History in 5 Minutes” with Dr. Michael Engs.
Dr. Michael Engs is a historical consultant whose work highlights the often-untold contributions of African and Latino Americans in the Southwest, spanning from 1538 to the present. - Barbea Williams Dance performance—Barbea Williams is an award-winning performer dedicated to sharing ethnic dance, theatre and visual cultural traditions that derive from Afrika and the Afrikan Diaspora.
- A Health Fair in honor of Quincie Douglas’ social activism, with many county and city agencies represented.
- Free snowcones! Kids’ crafts and book giveaways! Seed library plant giveaways!
- NOTE: We will also hold a special storytime on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 10:30am that focuses on community activism. Cake will be served at this storytime in honor of our birthday!
