 5 Years of Community-Supported Conservation\nPima County is a special plac
 e. As one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth\, the Sonoran Desert is
  home to incredible beauty\, deep human history\, iconic plants\, animals\
 , grasslands\, mountains\, and riparian areas.\n\nMore than 25 years ago\,
  following years of polarized disagreement\, intensive work\, collaboratio
 n\, negotiation\, compromise\, and relationship building\, our community c
 ame together to find common ground. Together\, we ensured that the balance
  of conserving and protecting natural and cultural landscapes with economi
 cally prosperous and responsible development would be enshrined in a guidi
 ng framework for the benefit of future generations.\nThe Sonoran Desert Co
 nservation Plan (SDCP) considers the following elements:\nCritical habitat
 s and biological corridors\, riparian areas\, mountain parks\, historical 
 and cultural preservation\, and ranch conservation—combined with robust 
 community education and engagement efforts to ensure continued commitment 
 to a land management plan for Pima County that is celebrated and emulated 
 internationally.\n\n\n\n
