 ation\, and the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona invite the
  community to the grand reopening of Santa Rita Park\, 401 E. 22nd St.\, o
 n Friday\, Oct. 2. Activities will begin at 5 p.m.\, followed by remarks a
 nd a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. \nOn Saturday\, Oct. 3\, the War
 d 5 Council Office will host a Movies in the Park event featuring "Super M
 ario Galaxy Movie." Activities kick off at 6 p.m. and include entertainmen
 t\, food trucks\, kids' activities\, and more.\n\nThe reopening celebrates
  the completion of an estimated $8 million\, multi-year renovation shaped 
 by extensive community input\, including five public meetings and three su
 rveys that drew a combined 799 responses. \n \n\nPark Improvements \n\n
 \n\n 	A new splash pad with shade \n\n\n\n\n 	A new playground with shade
  \n\n\n\n\n 	Asphalt and decomposed granite walking paths around the park
 's perimeter\, with connections throughout \n\n\n\n\n 	A new plaza area f
 or special events \n\n\n\n\n 	More than 300 newly planted trees and shrub
 s \n\n\n\n\n 	A new restroom near the playground \n\n\n\n\n 	Relocation 
 of one existing baseball field to the park's southeast corner \n\n\n\n\n 
 	Two new multipurpose fields \n\n\n\n\n 	A new parking lot with access fr
 om 22nd Street \n\n\n\n\n 	A new irrigation system throughout the park \
 n\n\n\n\n 	New benches alongside the playground \n\n\n\n\n 	New grass thr
