SUMMARY:Fox School Matinee-Where the Wild Things Are
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin the creator of the viral Instagram series\,
“The Year of the Dogs\,” for a deep\, hilarious\, and very cute expl
oration of the world around us and the animals in it—especially our pets
!  Having spent over 30 years traveling the world for National Geographic
and documenting everything from mummies to mutts\, Vincent Musi believes
that everything we learn about animals teaches us everything we don’t kn
ow about ourselves.  With his trademark dry humor\, he takes us into the
world of animal cognition and on a tour of some of the world’s most unus
ual pets\, including a hilarious romp through his The Year of the Dogs p
roject. You may never look at your fuzzy friends the same way again!\n\n&n
 bsp\;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSince 1993\, Vincent J. Musi has been
a regular contributor to National Geographic\, covering a vast range of
subjects from the legendary Route 66 to life at the base of volcanoes. A
specialist in animal portraits\, his recent work includes projects on dome
stication\, intelligence and cognition. When Vincent’s work shifted from
documenting the world to photographing animals\, he knew he was in over h
is head and feared it would end his career. He’s still unsure\, as he wo
 rks with subjects who routinely growl\, bark\, roar\, bite\, hiss\, claw\,
poop\, or pee…on him. In particular\, he taps into his inner Dr. Doli
ttle to capture unique dog portraits. As a way to amuse himself (and us)\,
Vince imagines the inner lives of his subjects and shares often side-spli
tting and sometimes poignant life stories from their perspective.\n\n\n\n\
n&nbsp\;\nThis talk is part of the Vital Impacts Student Speaker Series\,
